British Thornton Certified by FSC and PEFC!

British Thornton has been awarded both the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world's forests. It was founded in 1993 in response to public concern about deforestation and demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme.

PEFC UK Ltd was established in 2000 and is the member of PEFC International, an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.

British Thornton has been using both FSC and PEFC certified suppliers for their board material and print requirements for several years. The company deemed that it was important to achieve the certification for themselves as it is in line with their ISO14001 environmental systems accreditation. In addition, British Thornton works with some of the country's leading building contractors to develop well furnished learning environments. Several building contractors indicated that they required British Thornton to be certified by the FSC and PEFC as part of their contractual agreement.

The newly acquired FSC and PEFC certifications coupled with their ISO 14001 accreditation, demonstrates British Thornton's commitment to the preservation and protection to the environment and should strengthen their position in the market.
